Packers came yesterday. (I say “packers,” what I mean is “one dude from HandyBook,” but still. He packed.) I also packed. We all packed. Except the cats, who, mysteriously, mostly stayed out of the way. So now my home for the last n years is filled with boxes, but not so much with my belongings. It’s strange, and I’m tired.
Professional packers are interesting. They pack things. I mean, all the things. They don’t stop and wonder if a pan lid that fits none of your pans should move cross-country, nor the 1/8th-full bottle of dish detergent; they just box it. He packed a good deal of stuff I wouldn’t have, but I bet it took him half the time.
I was reading Foodness Gracious – well, looking at the pretty pictures – and the author posted something about the writing in his blog, and wondering if it actually matters.* It so matters. I find that I only come back to blogs whose writing I think is entertaining, no matter the pretty pictures.
And this is as much a my-life blog as a nail polish blog (somehow that happened). So, I feel like I should have stuff to say? But I’m tired for so many reasons, and that’s the enemy of writing well. So here is some more nail polish, and with luck post-defense I will be less whiny (so whiny!) and more talky.
‘Til then, L’Oreal The True Diamond (over Sinful Colors Strapped):

Same, only over some interesting silver stickers. The effect didn’t really work, the topper just kind of swallowed the sticker.
There are a lot of possible effects and finishes for nail polish. A lot. I’ll do a post sometime, probably soon. One of my favorites is “glass fleck.” I don’t know if it’s actually glass powder, just another shape/material of glitter, or what, but I like it.
So, this is a topper that’s basically just a bottle of glass fleck stuff in a clear base. I haven’t yet figured out how to make it as pretty as the bottle, but I’ll keep after it a bit.
I need to start doing bottle shots again.

Is glass flecks just itty bitty glits?
Maybe? It seems very, very transparent — there are certain angles where you can’t really see it at all, if it doesn’t catch the light. So glass powder is a possibility, as are tinytiny transparent glits made of plastic. Or mica?
I think it must be mica
